"ZÉ DE CARRINHO"
In this house lived Seu José Valiense, better known as Zé de Carrinho.
Zé de Carrinho, son of an Italian who came to Porto Seguro, bought this house from Mr. Antonio Moraes and here he raised his children and lived for all his life.

This curious nickname was due to being the owner of oxcarts, which transported everything here in Arraial d’Ajuda. Food, people and especially construction material.
It was in Zé de Carrinho's oxcarts that wooden logs, clay, clay and even coral (very used in the past for building) were transported.

Zé de Carrinho was also the first to have a motor vehicle in Arraial d'Ajuda, a rural area. As there was no mechanic, it was Zé de Carrinho himself who fixed the pieces with wood when they broke. “And it worked!” Says his daughter Flor.

As he was also a farm owner, he was the one who supplied meat to Arraial d’Ajuda. As there was no way to refrigerate or freeze the meat, when meat arrived in the village it was a real event, and the whole Arraial benefited.
